Some enterprise agreement have clauses which set out sensible conditions allowing breastfeeding at work. Unions involved in developing these include the Australian Services Union, Australian Manufacturing Workers Union and the Finance Sector Union.
These provisions typically include allowing one to two hours paid leave per day for employees to feed or express milk for feeding purposes. The agreements also stipulate that the employer will provide a private hygienic area for feeding purposes, and some also say a refrigerator and washing facilities.
Some simply note that the employer agrees provide flexible working time arrangements and facilities for expressing or feeding.
