The Workers Comp Report Card

All Members of parliament are being awarded a score on the basis of their committment to protecting workers comp. Its half way through the year and we are giving a report card that shows who is performing well and those who could do better.

The score card gives each member 10 points for each of the following questions they have answered correctly. Unionists are circulating a survey to all members of parliament that ask the following questions...

Will you support

  • The removal of legislation allowing the Government to privatise the scheme.
  • The maintenance of an injured worker's right to sue an employer who has an unsafe workplace is maintained.
  • Increase in fines for employers who fail to provide a safe workplace.
  • The guarantee that any new medical guidelines do not reduce workersâ benefits or access to those benefits.
  • The introduction of a penalty for industrial manslaughter.
  • An increase in fines for insurers to $55,000, for not paying claims.
  • An increase in fines for employers who do not pay the correct workersâ comp premium.

Those who supported our position in the Labor caucus, by not crossing the picket line or voting in parliament are to be awarded 30 points. All scores are out of 100.

Those with a cross are those who promised to support us last time but let us down.
