Yes. Most apprenticeships and traineeships can now be undertaken on a part time basis. This is similar to part time work options which also exist across the majority of industries.
Wage rates for part time traineeships are set out under the National Training Wage Award and depend on a number of factors.
A part time trainee is also entitled to receive all employment conditions that apply to a full time trainee on a pro rata basis. A part time trainee may also transfer to a full time traineeship by agreement with the employer.
