Generally speaking, trainees and apprentices may be required to work reasonable amounts of overtime provided this does not affect the successful completion of the approved training. A trainee can not be required to work overtime or shiftwork on their own, unless it is consistent with the terms of the relevant award.
Hours of work and over time provisions that do apply may also vary between traineeships and apprenticeships. You will need to check the award or agreement that applies to you.
