questions

How can I find out what I should be getting paid?

questions

The best place to start is the union representative at your workplace. If there isn't a representative at your workplace or don't know who the representative is, contact your union. Ask your fellow workers or your employer for details regarding the name of the Award you are paid under.

If you are not a union member or don't know which union you can join, you should contact the Trades and Labour Council in your State or phone the ACTU's help line on 1300 362 223. The staff at Member Connect can point you in the right direction.

The Federal Government's WageLine is a Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) telephone inquiry service in New South Wales, Victoria, the Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory. The information on this site should be treated with caution.

Federal WageLine and workplace relations compliance services are provided by State Government workplace relations departments in Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania. For further information see: http://www.wagenet.gov.au/WageNet/HomePage/HomePage.asp

It is important to note that award rates of pay are the legal minimum rate that must be paid by law. Union members covered by an Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) are likely to be paid 30% above the award minimum rate of pay.
