Impulse workers protest at lunchDate: 28 May 2001
Former Impulse workers have taken their cause directly to Qantas in a protest today at the Brisbane Convention Centre. Australian Services Union acting Branch Secretary Mary-Anne O'Neill said the sacked Impulse workers protested outside an exclusive Qantas lunch understood to be costing the company thousands of dollars. "Qantas are hosting an exclusive lunch costing thousands of dollars yet they can't find a single cent for these workers in terms of jobs or redundancy packages," Ms O'Neill said. "The sacked staff will be calling on Qantas to do the right thing and provide employment for all Impulse staff," she said. "If Qantas won't do the right thing, then at the very least they should be providing a fair and reasonable redundancy package for these workers," she said.
