The Great Debate: Abbott vs ShortenDate: 19 May 2003
The Law Institute of Victoria is hosting its inaugural industrial relations debate this Thursday between two key IR opponents, Workplace Relations Minister Tony Abbott and Australian Workers' Union National Secretary Bill Shorten. The debate: Two's a Party, Three's a Crowd. Third Party Involvement in Industrial Relations will be chaired by Josh Bornstein, Employment and Industrial Partner at Maurice Blackburn Cashman. The debate will be held at the Melbourne Town Hall on Thursday 22 May at 5.30 pm. Each speaker will speak for 15 minutes with further time for rebuttal. A media panel comprising journalists from The Age, Sydney Morning Herald, Business Review Weekly and Sunday Herald Sun will also ask each speaker questions. Media are invited to attend.
