TELSTRA/FOXTEL SUBBIES STRIKEDate: 14 March 2004
The so called 'digital revolution' will be delayed from 7am on Monday morning (15th March) as the sub-contractors members of the CEPU begin a strike. The subbies are aiming to achieve reasonable rates of remuneration for the work they do installing and maintaining the cable TV and broadband services for Telstra and Foxtel. 'The action by the subbies will delay the provision and maintenance of the new digital cable TV services, unfortunately, but the companies need to offer reasonable rates for the work' said Len Cooper, Secretary of the Communications Union (CEPU). The sub-contractor members of the CEPU will hold a mass meeting at 9am on the 15th March 2004 at Elgar Park on the corner of Elgar Road and Belmore Road, Box Hill North to decide on their claims and consider future action. For comment contact: Len Cooper on Mobile No: 0438 389302
