Industrial Chages Bad For FamiliesDate: 31 May 2005
The impact of the Howard Government's industrial relations plans on families and communities will be put under the microscope at a Working NSW conference this Friday (June 3). The conference, "Things Fall Apart' will hear from academics and community leaders about the effect of labour market deregulation on our primary social structures. Unions NSW secretary John Robertson says the conference is a priceless opportunity to look at the broader impacts of the proposed changes. "To fully appreciate the impact of these attacks on workers rights, we need to join the dots and talk about how job security and stable hours are key pillars of our families and our communities," Mr Robertson said. Media are welcome to attend the conference between 9.00am and 3.00pm at the Australian Museum Theatrette. College Street, Sydney. Full Conference Program attached Speakers include: - Leslie Cannold - author of 'What No Baby?' - Rev Bill Crews - Exodus Foundation - Juliet Bourke - Chair of the Taskforce on Care Costs - Don Edgar - Institute of Family Studies - John Restuccia, Surf Lifesaving NSW - Anita Tang, Cancer Council of NSW
