Target: community meets BracksDate: 04 August 2001
The Geelong Community Roundtable met with the Premier Steve Bracks Thursday in a bid to enlist government support for the campaign to keep Target Head Office jobs in Geelong.
The roundtable, consisting of the ASU, the Geelong Trade Hall Council, the City of Geelong and the Geelong Chamber of Commerce, impressed upon the Government the importance of ensuring the maintenance of the Target Head Office in Geelong; and further, to influence Coles Myer Limited to centralise some functions in Geelong as part of it's restructure. As part of the on going campaign the Premier has agreed to accept from the Target Workers a petition signed by over 12,000 people at a public rally in Geelong next Thursday 8th August. All Target Workers and their supporters are urged to be there from 11.30 to greet Premier Bracks at 12 noon. The rally will be held in front of the Sheraton Hotel, Eastern Beach Road, Geelong.
