What happened to the Left?Date: 12 September 2008
In years gone past the Left was a serious political force that held sway in once powerful trade unions, the Australian Labor Party and the broader community. The battles between the left and right for the control of the Labor Party were legendary. In recent years the Left has ceased to be a powerhouse for ideas.
Is the Left dead? Does it really matter?Professor Geoff Gallop (Director, Graduate School of Government, University of Sydney), Rodney Cavalier (former minister and Labor intellectual) and Professor David McKnight (Academic at the University of New South Wales) discuss these questions and others at Unions NSW.The Moderator for the seminar is Rose Jackson |
