Ansett workers queue at CentrelinkDate: 24 September 2001
Several hundred Ansett workers today took their campaign to save their jobs and entitlements to the Broadmeadows Centrelink Office. The workers queued outside the Centrelink office in a symbolic illustration of the thousands of jobs which will be lost if Ansett cannot be saved. The mayor of the City of Hume addressed the crowd and offered the full support of council for the Ansett workers, many of whom live in the City of Hume. Following the rally a group of workers set out to pay local Federal Member of Parliament, Andrew Theophanos, a visit to discuss the future of Ansett and what steps he had been taking on behalf of his constituents to secure that future.
