Building workers rescue injured ladyDate: 27 February 2002
Construction workers at Dee Why this morning rescued an elderly local lady who had fallen badly on a dodgy local footpath outside their building site. The lady's front teeth were forced through her lip by the fall and she has a suspected broken nose. She was taken by CFMEU members to the nearby Kingsway Medical Centre. The accident took place on the footpath at the corner of Dee Why Parade and Pittwater Road, Dee Why. CFMEU local area organiser Tom Mitchell believes the state of local footpaths in the area is a disgrace. "This area is frequented by elderly locals very regularly, as there are two medical centres nearby. The local council needs to get its act together fast and clean up these local walkways. The lady this morning was just on the ground bleeding. No one was around. She would have been there for hours but for the big heartedness of local building workers."
