Air safety staff to stop workDate: 13 March 2002
Air safety maintenance staff and air traffic controllers in Victoria are expected to walk off the job today as part of a campaign for better job security, pay and employment conditions. Airservices staff are taking this action after 13 months of frustrating negotiations over a new enterprise agreement. According to CPSU spokesperson Adrian O'Connell, members feel let down by management's failure to deliver a fair, workable bargaining proposal. "These people are professionals. They are absolutely committed to keeping Australia's air safety standards high. Unfortunately management's latest proposal falls well short of addressing our reasonable concerns on job security, pay and super for new employees," said Mr O'Connell.
