Date: 10 September 2002

Former Labor Prime Minister Gough Whitlam will tomorrow officially open the Parramatta plaza named in his honour.

The NSW Labor Council, as majority owner, will rename 2KY House in Wentworth Street, Parramatta, 'The Gough Whitlam Plaza' in recognition of his contribution to the people of western Sydney.

"'It's Time' to rename the building with an ongoing Labor theme," NSW Labor Council secretary John Robertson said today.

"What could be more appropriate than to rename the building after the person who through his time in the Parliament drew attention to the needs of the people of Western Sydney."

WHERE: 20-22 Wentworth Street
Parramatta

WHEN: 4.00pm
September 11

MEDIA ARE INVITED TO ATTEND
