Knightley sells out & moves up

Date: 11 February 2003

Popular author: Phillip Knightley

Popular author: Phillip Knightley

This Saturday's public seminar at Sydney's Seymour Centre on investigative journalism, featuring author Phillip Knightley, has sold out, the Evatt Foundation revealed today.

"The good news is that the seminar has been transferred up to the Seymour's larger Everest Theatre, which means more seats are now available", Evatt Foundation President, Bruce Childs, announced.

"Demand for tickets has been extraordinary", Mr Childs said.

"With war threatening, people seem concerned that truth is already a severe casualty."

"Phillip Knightley is the foremost historian of war reporting, as well as one of the world's most distinguished investigative journalists."

"As war approaches, history suggests that lies, manipulation, news management, distortion, omission, slant and gullible coverage will be the order of the day," said Mr Childs.

"Phillip Knightley will be joined at the seminar by leading Four Corners reporter, Chris Masters."

The seminar is titled 'The Death of Investigative Journalism and Who Killed It?'

The event will be chaired by Bruce Childs, the President of the Evatt Foundation, and it will be held at the pre-dinner time of 6 pm to 7.30 pm.

The cost is $20 ($10 concession) and tickets can be purchased through the Evatt Foundation or the Seymour Centre.

This event is supported by the Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance (MEAA).
