MUA At US Black Labour Celebrations

Date: 25 February 2003

Darwin wharfie and Aboriginal activist Thomas Mayor arrives in the US today to attend the Celebration of Black History and Labor with MUA National Secretary Paddy Crumlin in Tacoma.

The celebration organised by Willie Adams and Michael Chambers, both African Americans and members of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union, will be held on Wednesday, February 26.

It features big names from the US civil rights and black arts movements including civil rights activists Paul Robeson Jr, poet, Nikki Giovanni and actor director Avery Brooks with tributes to all time jazz greats Sammy Davis Jr, Duke Ellington and Charlie Parker.

MUA National Secretary Paddy Crumlin is one of the keynote speakers at the celebrations.
