Vic Peace Network Anti-War Events

Date: 19 March 2003

Daily peace vigils between 5pm and 8pm at Victoria's State Library are among the state's many anti-war activities being promoted by The Victorian Peace Action Network.

* Daily vigil 5-8pm State Library

* WHEN WAR STARTS, rally 5pm that day at State Library (that is, when bombs start falling all at once)

* Also Day war starts Youth Against War rally 4.30pm Federation Square

* Geelong 5pm at Market Square

* Silent candlelight vigil at sunset, Jetty War Memorial, Cowes

* Traralgon 5.30pm at cnr Kay and Franklin Sts

* Unionists rally next working day at noon, Trades Hall, Carlton South Geelong unionists rally next working day noon at 127 Myers St.

* Community picket of defence plaza from 7.30am Mon. 24th March, 661 Bourke St

* Student strike 'Books not bombs' 1pm Wed. 26 March, State Library

* STOP THE WAR RALLY 1pm Sat. 29 March State Library

Sunday, March 23, 11.00am SORRENTO PEACE RALLY - Meet at the Ferry Terminal then walk to Ocean Street and return to the Foreshore for Guest Speakers and another Peace Picnic!

23rd March 2003 Service at 11AM - "American Imperium or the United Nations" At the Melbourne Unitarian Peace Memorial Church 110 Grey Street, East Melbourne (opposite Mercy Hospital) Sunday Hear Rev. Paul Sawyer speak on Peace, Globalisation and the Media from a progressive American perspective.

Sun 23rd March, Eltham, Peace Walk. Meet at 1pm at Old Eltham Shire Office Site - 895 Main Rd Eltham. March with 1986 International Year of Peace Banner.

Mon 24 March, 7.30am onwards: Community picket of Defence Plaza, 661 Bourke St. Bring instruments, placards, banners, chalk etc for a fun and noisy demonstration. Get their early to stop them getting in. Organised by Direct Action Network for Peace.

Wed. 26 March, 1pm: Student strike 'Books not bombs' State Library
