Major City Rally MondayDate: 02 June 2000
Up to 20,000 workers are expected to rally outside the offices of the Australian Democrats in Sydney on Monday to urge them to block Peter Reith's latest wave of industrial laws. Building workers across the city will down tools at 11.30am and meet at Town Hall before marching to the Democrat officers in Phillip Street. They will be joined by other workers effected by the changes including: retail workers, finance sector workers and entertainers. A surf band will provide the atmosphere as rank and file workers address the crowd about the impact of the proposals to take away the right to bargain on an industry-wide basis.
