New website for construction union

The CFMEU Construction Division launched its new Website on Friday August 18.
"The new Website takes account of the fact that more and more union members have access to the Internet and may be interested to make contact with the union, or find out about union services through the Web," said John Sutton, National Secretary of the CFMEU Construction & General Division.
"The CFMEU prides itself on its strong on-site presence. Each State Branch has an active network of union delegates on construction projects, backed by experienced CFMEU organisers, who provide direct contact with the union for members.
"However, many construction workers also have computers and Internet access at home. Some will be using the Web to do their banking, to find out more about their favourite footy team, play games or to help the kids with their homework.
"Younger members, we expect, may be even more familiar with the Internet.
"With all this in mind, the CFMEU Construction Division has revamped our original Website to provide members with some improved services - such as dedicated Members Only Branch pages for important information about wage entitlements, insurance and legal services offered by the union - and to offer other visitors to the site a wealth of information about the union," said Mr Sutton.
"Journalists will be able to access the site for CFMEU Construction's latest press releases. Students will find plenty of material for school or university projects.
"A unique feature of the site is the fact that it can be translated into a number of community languages. Additionally, there is a 'Welcome to the CFMEU' in 11 of languages used most commonly by our non-English speaking members."
