Ch'ch Sc'l sends poor Easter messageDate: 09 April 2001
MEDIA ALERT Canberra Girls Grammar rally and leafletting by staff TOP CHURCH SCHOOL SENDS OUT POOR EASTER MESSAGE In the week before Easter one of the ACT's most prominent church schools has told their long-serving domestic, catering and maintenance staff that there is no room for them at the school. The Canberra Girls Grammar School has told the directly employed support staff that the Board is to make a decision about contracting out their jobs. While the message of Easter is about peace and grace there will be little certainty and security in the lives of many loyal staff this Easter weekend. The Canberra Girls Grammar School boasts to its staff and students that they are an Anglican School where Christian values underpin all they do. The Board will not make a decision until its June meeting leaving loyal staff unsure about their futures and insecure. LHMU members will this afternoon leaflet parents and students calling on them to remind the school about the real message of Easter and the need to contemplate the meaning of Christian values. Note: Canberra Girls Grammar School LHMU delegate Christine Hooper will be available for interviews at the rally. For further info: Gil Anderson, ACT LHMU, 02 6273 1238/ mob: 0411 643 981
