Backlash Against BHP-Billiton MergerDate: 09 May 2001
Some of Australia's biggest and most powerful unions have united to join the shareholder backlash against the proposed merger of BHP and Billiton. The BHP Union Alliance comprises the AMWU (Australian Manufacturing Workers Union); APESMA (Association of Professional Engineers, Scientists and Managers, Australia); AWU (Australian Workers Union); CEPU (Communications Electrical and Plumbing Union); CFMEU (Construction Forestry Mining and Energy Union); and the MUA (Maritime Union of Australia).
