Overview:

Applications are sought for the position of "Recruitment Officer".

The position is located within our Southern Office in Wollongong and is responsible for the planning, development, coordinating and implementation of recruitment and marketing strategies ensuring the ongoing viability of the Union. The position will be responsible for the gathering and mapping of sites, and information dissemination to promote a favourable view of the Unions', products and services and entice new membership. The position will assist organisers and managers enhance membership participation through the marketing and recruitment of potential members, and representing the interests of those members in the industrial arena.

The position requires extensive travel throughout country and regional New South Wales.

The position works under the direction of the General Secretary pursuant to our Rules but reports to the Manager South.

We work a thirty-five hour week and enjoy a nine day fortnight, but due to the nature of the position a flexible approach to working hours is an essential requirement.

Job Description:

• The ability to organise, recruit and plan campaigns within an industrial framework

• Experience as a delegate, representing the interests of members within an appropriate industry.

• Knowledge of site mapping, marketing and recruiting principles within an industrial context

• A contemporary knowledge of awards and industrial relations legislation impacting on members;

• Demonstrated commitment to the principles of trade unionism;

• Completed Union Delegates Training course

• Excellent communication and persuasive interpersonal skills,

• Computer literate with intermediate skills in word, excel, and electronic mail systems

• RTA class C drivers licence.

• Well developed research skills and administration experience

• Demonstrated understanding of and ability to deal with equal employment opportunity, discrimination and harassment issues

• Demonstrated ability in preparation of correspondence, reports and marketing material.

Experience & Qualifications
Salary:

Salary range for the position is Grade 2 Level 3 ($987.00) to Grade 3 Level 2 ($1120.00) in accordance with the USU's salary system.

Information:

A vehicle for undertaking field duties will be provided, therefore, applicants should possess a current class 1A driver's licence. The vehicle, however, is a tool of trade and should not be considered a condition of employment.
