Overview:

The Australian Services Union represents administrative and professional workers in local government, energy, community services, transport, retail, financial, call centres, airlines and numerous private sector businesses. There are two Organiser positions available with the South Australian and Northern Territory Branch of the Union. The positions are based in Adelaide.

Job Description:

The successful applicants will work as part of a team dedicated to organising and recruitment of members in the above industries and assisting them to improve their working lives through the power of the collective. The objective of the position is to grow the Union through well organised, unionised workplaces where members have a strong sense of the power of the collective in dealing with their day to day workplace issues and furthering the broader interest of union members.

Applicants will need to demonstrate an ability to cover all aspects of the organising role and be prepared to undertake the different aspects of organising; growth, allocated or grievance, as required.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

Commitment to the Trade Union movement

Demonstrated experience in modern Union membership organising theory and techniques

Knowledge of the Australian industrial scene

Ability to motivate and educate Union members and potential members

Able to work in accordance with planned strategies

Able to demonstrate initiative

Able to successfully facilitate worker meetings to achieve planned objectives

Experience in negotiation, dispute resolution and grievance handling

Experience in enterprise bargaining

Able to work to deadlines

Drivers' licence

Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook)

Salary:

Starting salary will be negotiated between $45,724 and $51,431 depending on skills and experience. Private use of motor vehicle or additional salary in lieu is also part of the package, along with access of up to 14% employer superannuation contributions.
