DUSA is committed to the principle of membership empowerment as our core strategy. Membership empowerment is providing control of activities and organisational functions directly to members through elections and member development programs. DUSAs organisational structure increasingly supports membership empowerment, and its features include:
oCampus Committees, with responsibility for creating and delivering all member activities on campus, facilitated by a team of campus-based Support Officers, coordinated by a Lead Support Officer.
oAdministration tasks, conducted increasingly at campus-level through the decentralisation of finance and other processes.
oAssisting Campus VPs and Campus Committees to determine and deliver the full range of activities and programs on their campuses.

| Job Description: |
The Support Officer will take a lead role in the support of recruitment activities, volunteers, collective action development and joint activities between clubs and DUSA on campus. In particular the Support Officer will be responsible for supporting the campus committee in recruitment of members through the development of collectives, the development of volunteer programs and direct recruitment. Also included in this position is providing advice and support to club officers and ensuring clubs, societies and collectives are participating in the overall DUSA culture. The Support Officer may at times provide advice, resources and training to students and representatives of the organisation on key issues.
Establishing and maintaining an open and effective system of communication with key stakeholders.
Contributing to the development and implementation of DUSAs strategic organising planning and campaigns.
Provide direct support in the recruitment of members to the campus committee and volunteers Provide direct support to DUSAs volunteer program at the Melbourne campus Identify opportunities for clubs and societies to work together both within the clubs and societies on campus and with DUSA Identify opportunities for DUSA to provide development opportunities to clubs, societies and student collectives Establish systems that enhance DUSAs recruitment opportunities with student collectives, clubs and societies Identify recruitment opportunities Linking DUSA activities, clubs and societies activities and collective actions with recruitment of DUSA members Other duties as required.

| Experience & Qualifications |
| Essential: |
Demonstrable commitment to the concept of membership empowerment An understanding of member-based organisations
An understanding of the Higher Education Sector
An understanding and experience in recruitment, community development and volunteer committees Demonstrated experience in supporting governance organisations or committee structures An ability to assist, encourage and mentor DUSA representatives, club members and members Knowledge and or experience of supporting cultural change Demonstrated experience in supporting self-managed teams High level communication and interpersonal skills Strong networking skills and an ability to work as part of a team Demonstrated commitment to the ethos and underlying purpose of DUSA4U including membership recruitment prior to providing services A qualification in a related discipline, such as Community Development, Social Sciences or Political sciences, with a minimum of two years experience or equivalent training and experience Experience in working with volunteers.

$47,899.77-$55,710.19
