Overview:

The National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) represents approximately 25,000 academic and general staff in universities and other tertiary education providers. The Union is seeking applications for the position of Policy and Research Coordinator (PRC), in its National Office, based in South Melbourne, Victoria. This is a senior position with high level policy, research, public advocacy and management responsibilities.

Job Description:

Co-ordinate the work of the Policy and Research Unit on a day-to-day basis. Supervise other Unit members as required and take full responsibility for initiation and completion of assigned tasks or projects, including: research on tertiary education policy and other areas as relevant; lobby, liaise and negotiate with all levels of government and associated bureaucracies, other unions and the ACTU, academic and university bodies, professional bodies, business organisations, student representative groups and all levels of NTEU; propose and develop policy for consideration by NTEU; develop detailed strategies for policy implementation; promote NTEU's interests in a wide range of forums.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

Experience in policy research, public advocacy, media liaison and a commitment to trade unionism are essential requirements for this position.

Desired:

Knowledge of or involvement in the tertiary education sector and highly developed management skills would be an advantage.

Salary:

Salary is in the range of $81,898 to $89,454 plus a 17% employer superannuation contribution.
