The primary function of the role is to provide expert research and policy advice on the key issues affecting our industry and labour market.
The position will assist the the union in articulating a CPSU position and shaping and delivering the unions change agenda.
The position is primarily a research position and will require a strong background in economics and statistical analysis.

| Job Description: |
Economic, Finance and Labour Market:
The position will provide expert research and policy advice in the following key result areas affecting the union:
1.CPSU membership
2.Labour market
3.Womens Survey and Research
4.Budget Submission and Analysis
The position will assist the union in gaining a better understanding of what is happening in these key areas, through comprehensive and systematic economic, finance and labour market analysis, to ensure we are in a position to have input into these processes. The position will conduct research and produce outputs based upon that research, and contribute to CPSUs long term development strategy.

Key Selection Criteria
Essential
1.Tertiary qualification or equivalent
2.Demonstrated extensive experience in conducting research and statistical analysis and producing specific outputs based upon that research, preferably within a Federal Industrial Environment 3.Demonstrated ability in writing research reports 4.Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external stakeholders 5.Proven ability to work within tight deadlines, and to establish day to day priorities and scheduling 6.Proven ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
Experience and/or Qualifications
Tertiary Qualifications in Economics, Statistics or other relevant area Demonstrated extensive experience in research and statistical analysis
Accountabilities
Accountable for providing expert research and policy advice Accountable for completing a range of reports and performing a range of projects and tasks to a high standard for the National Secretariat that complies with CPSU policy and procedures within agreed timeframes and reporting mechanisms.

Knowledge of and experience with the current Federal Industrial environment Knowledge of Public Sector employment conditions and procedures Knowledge of economic and labour market trends Capacity to provide policy advice and support and inform internal stakeholders.
