Overview:

The Australian Workers Union (AWU) is one of Australia's most innovative and robust trade unions.

The AWU is looking for a creative, enthusiastic and self-motivated Organiser to be based in our Perth Office in WA. The AWU together with the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA) have embarked on a joint union organising project within the offshore oil and gas industry.

The role of the organiser will be to work within the joint union Alliance team.

Job Description:

Working as part of the joint union Alliance team, you will have a key role in developing and implementing effective campaigns and work plans that fit into the campaign objectives and strategies to build the Alliance members collective power in the workplace.

There will be a strong emphasis on recruiting members and developing workplace leaders and activists.

Highly developed organising, campaigning and communication skills are an essential element in reaching the objectives of the campaign plans.

The role will require reporting to the Lead Organiser and AWU Branch and National Officials.

The applicant to the role must be prepared to travel.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

1. Demonstrated commitment to trade unionism and social justice.

2. Good communication and interpersonal skills.

3. Preparedness to work and participate in a team environment as per the terms of the AWU-MUA joint union Alliance.

4. Current drivers Licence

1. Computer familiarity

2. Good written communication

3. Ability to plan and provide regular reports on progress of plans.

Salary:

Comprehensive salary package will be provided to the suitable candidate including the use of a motor vehicle and generous superannuation entitlements
