Overview:

The Australian Manufacturing Workers Union is one of Australias biggest and most influential trade unions. It is a registered trade union under the Workplace Relations Act and has a membership nationally of approximately 137,000. The AMWU believes strongly in the value of union education and has an extensive program of delegate and official education. The Union believes that these programs are essential if delegates and officials are to meet the challenges they face in representing their members effectively in a climate of industrial challenge and change.

Job Description:

The AMWU invites invitations from experienced adult educators to become part of its team of national education officers delivering a wide range of programs to delegates and officials across Australia. The position location will be in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane. There is a strong link between education and the organising priorities of the union. You will be required to deliver courses and to contribute to curriculum development.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

Applicants should possess: A commitment to unionism and social change A commitment to equal opportunities and diversity A sound knowledge and expertise in union education and in participatory education techniques Some experience of curriculum development Knowledge of industrial relations law in Australia A reasonable level of basic computer literacy.

Desired:

In addition other useful attributes would include: An awareness of modern organising techniques Specific knowledge of the manufacturing industry and/or the AMWU Expertise in online learning Skills and experience in campaigning.

Salary:

$61,162.40 plus superannuation
