| Overview: |
The NTEU (NSW) is seeking to employ a full-time Industrial Officer. The position, whilst based in Sydney, does require travel to regional universities in NSW.
The NTEU is a federally registered membership-led union with coverage of academic and general staff in higher education. The NTEU (NSW) has coverage of workers in all NSW universities and their associated student organisations, research institutes and companies.

| Job Description: |
DUTIES INCLUDE:
Negotiating local enterprise collective agreements; advocacy before industrial tribunals; negotiating with higher education managements on personal cases and disputes; recruitment; providing industrial advice and co-ordinating campaigns.

| Experience & Qualifications |
| Essential: |
Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent; experience in the trade union movement; demonstrated negotiating, advocacy and campaign skills; demonstrated commitment to and understanding of principles of organising and evidence of experience in their application; commitment to union principles.
|
|
| Desired: |
Knowledge of the higher education industry; basic word processing; electronic communication skills and drivers licence.
|
|
| Salary: |
NTEU level 7 - $71,823 pa - $79,298 depending on applicants level of experience. All staff will receive a salary increase of 3.5% on 31 August 2008. Employer superannuation contributions of 17% are paid in addition to salary.
