Overview:

The CFMEU is committed to protecting and improving wages, working conditions and entitlements, and enhancing workplace safety for building and construction industry members.

This is a full time position based at the unions head office at Lidcombe, where we are seeking applicants interested in providing a high standard of expertise and assistance to union members. Training will be provided.

Job Description:

 Answer and respond to calls to the CFMEU Help Line  Provide accurate industrial advice to union members on their rights and entitlements under awards, agreements and other relevant legislation, including worker's compensation, termination of employment, pay rates, superannuation and redundancy.

 Resolve member claims for unpaid workers compensation entitlements.

 Process back pay claims, including calculations of award breaches.

 Provide accurate information to field organisers and delegates.

 Recruitment and retention of union members.

 Respond to relevant emails and faxes.

 Administration duties, including letters to employers & updating of databases.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

A demonstrated commitment to trade union objectives and principles is required along with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Applicants must have very strong organisational skills and the capacity to handle a demanding workload. Applicants should have good numeracy skills, be proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel and have good keyboard skills.

Desired:

Relevant tertiary qualifications preferred, along with previous experience in the interpretation of awards and agreements and an understanding of State & Federal Workplace laws.
Particular non-English language skills would benefit this position.
Experience in a similar trade union position would be highly regarded.

Salary:

To $68,400 plus 9% superannuation, depending on skills and experience.
