Overview:

Applications are sought for the position of organiser within the Metropolitan Area. The position is located within our modern Pitt Street Sydney Office.

Job Description:

The position requires the ability to attend to the needs of the membership in all industry sectors covered by the Union, i.e. Local Government, Clerical and Administrative, Airlines and Energy and Utilities.

The position works under the direction of the General Secretary pursuant to our rules and reports to the Manager, Metropolitan.

We work a thirty-five hour week and enjoy a nine-day fortnight; however, due to the nature of the position a flexible approach to working hours is an essential requirement. The Union has a smoke free work environment which extends to Union vehicles and other conditions of employment are highly attractive.

Applicants will need to be self-starters, motivated, able to analyse and resolve industrial conflict, have superior negotiation skills and an ability to communicate both orally and in written form.

You will be required to develop and implement organising plans for work that include developing, educating and supporting workplace delegates and activists, increasing levels of membership and activism, including the direct recruitment of new members and assisting the effective operation and projects of delegates committees. You will also be required to assist members and delegates in the resolution of grievances and collective bargaining and other campaign work.

You should have a strong commitment to the principles of Trade Unionism and an understanding of our Industry Awards / Agreements.

Experience & Qualifications
Salary:

Salary range is from grade 3 level 1 $1,122.00pw ($58,344/yr) to grade 3 level 5 $1,282.00pw ($66,664/yr).
