Overview:

The NSW Nurses Association is a trade union, which represents the industrial, professional and legal interest of nurses and midwives in NSW.

We seek an Administrative Assistant to provide organising support to the Member Organising Enforcement Team.

Job Description:

The role involves preparation of publicity and correspondence for routine workplace visits and organising travel and accommodation. It is essential that the applicant is able to prepare standard letters, flyers and notices as well as general office duties consisting of the sending of faxes, photocopying, filing, mailing and voice-mail maintenance.

The successful applicant should be confident in the booking of meeting venues and catering for external meetings. You should be proficient in the troubleshooting of PC and printer problems.

The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate their ability to develop, maintain and enhance PC based database systems, retaining key information to enable the team to monitor and track membership gained through the efforts of the team.

They should also be able to work within the team to identify key information to be incorporated into databases or files.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

To be successful in this role, the applicant should be proficient in a Windows environment, preferably using Microsoft Office 07 or similar application at an Intermediate or Advanced level and be able to demonstrate accurate typing and data entry skills.

The candidate should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrate a willingness to learn.

The ability to be self motivated and to work within a multi-disciplinary role with minimal supervision as well as part of a team are essential.

It is desirable that the applicant possesses research skills, be committed to the principles of the trade union movement and be comfortable working within a demanding environment.
