About LHMU Victoria LHMU Victoria is a growing, dynamic union organising diverse workers to have a strong voice at work and in society.

We run creative and forceful campaigns to win respect and justice for workers in our industries, including Response Time!, Clean Start, Better Jobs Better Hotels, and Big Steps in Childcare.

Job Description:

The Support Officer will report to the Media and Communications Officer and will:

Write and lay out communications for campaigns, including leaflets, dedicated campaign websites and e-newsletters to campaign supporters

Write and lay out campaign communications for our members

Write content for journals and newsletters

Contribute content for the new LHMU national website (under construction)

Write media releases, and liaise with journalists to get our stories out.

experience: The successful applicant must have:

A demonstrated commitment to campaigning for justice

Ability to meet deadlines and juggle multiple projects

Ability to work long and unpredictable hours

Excellent writing and editing.

Experience & Qualifications
Desired:

You should also have some or all of the following:

A degree or other qualification in journalism or communications

Ability to talk with members from diverse backgrounds

Ability to frame issues for different audiences

Basic layout using In Design/Photoshop/Illustrator Research skills

Photography, digital video and video editing skills.

Salary:

Competitive salary suitable for recent graduates, with generous leave and superannuation provisions.

Information:

Six month contract with possibility of extension.
