Overview:

Unions are embarking on an exciting new phase of representing the rights of working Australians and we need a talented and energetic Web Campaigns Officer to join our successful campaigning team.

In this role you will use your demonstrated union or community campaigning experience to take a major role in developing online technologies to activate union members and the wider community.

This is a fast-moving and demanding role in a national political and industrial relations environment that offers an excellent career opportunity for the right person.

We are looking for someone with a tertiary qualification, strong writing skills and demonstrated experience in union or community online campaigning or communications roles.

Knowledge of online campaigning strategies, emerging online tools and familiarity with multimedia desirable.

The position is full time and based in Melbourne. Competitive salary plus 15% superannuation.

Job Description:

Primary Objectives of Position

1. Manage and maintain the ACTUs campaign websites to meet the organisationss key objectives.

2. Build the capacity and manage the ACTUs online community to be active in ACTU and union campaigns and to be advocates for the work of unions within workplaces and the wider community.

3. Support the ACTU Campaigns Director in developing and delivering the campaign objectives of the ACTU.

Duties

1. Plan, develop and execute online advocacy campaigns related to the ACTUs work.

2. Plan, develop and coordinate dynamic content and interactive tools for ACTU campaign websites.

3. Establish, manage and build ACTU online community specialist groupings and lists.

4. Develop the online strategies and mechanisms to encourage and support direct online participation by the ACTU community and for it to engage in both virtual and on the ground activities.

5. Work with the ACTU, Trades and Labor Council and union campaign, communications and industrial staff in the development and implementation of integrated campaign and communications strategies which involve online and on the ground activity.

6. Network and connect the ACTUs work to online advocacy and other electronic communities.

7. Assists the ACTU communications team with communications strategies and its daily work as required.

Internal communication

1. Reports to the ACTU Campaigns Director and the ACTU Communications Director

2. Liaises with ACTU communications and industrial staff.

External liaison

1. ACTU affiliates, TLCs, and union campaigning, communications and industrial staff.

2. Members of the public.

3. Web contractors and consultants.

4. Relevant suppliers.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

1. Relevant tertiary qualification.

2. Demonstrated experience in union or community online campaigning or communications roles.

3. Strong writing skills with online campaigning sensibility.

4. Project management experience in an environment of competing priorities.

5. Excellent knowledge of online campaigning strategies and emerging online campaigning tools.

6. Strong web skills and familiarity with multimedia.
