Overview:

Support the industrial and social objectives of the ASU in the workplaces and industries allocated to the position. The ASU is seeking to continue to build collectivism in workplaces by identifying, leading, motivating and educating workplace representatives.

Job Description:

Organising members and potential memebers ina range of service sectors and occupational groupings by:

* Planning organising activities and campaigns at the workplace and across industry sectors as required

* Identifying and supporting workplace representatives

* Encouraging and assisting workplace representatives, activists and members to establish support networks among members

* Support Industrial Offices in disputes and the collective bargaining process

* Develop and maintain organising plans, records and outcomes

* Attend members meetings and participate in broader union campaigns

* Contribute to ASU publications and forums *Attend various meetings, joint working groups, tribunals as necessary.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

* An ability to work with working people to build collective outcomes and strength inthe ASU.
* Commitment to the principles of the trade union movement, appreciation of the issues surrounding working life and culture for low paid workers, their families and communities.
* Demonstrated experience in modern theory and techniques.
* Able to work with limited supervision.
* Able to demonstrate initiative and leadership among identified ASU representatives and members.
* Communication and negotiation skills.
* Able to work to deadlines.
* Driver's License is compulsory
*Ability to develop publicity, graphics, and marketing material for members
* Basic computer skils (Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisherand Powerpoint, Outlook)

Salary:

$45,075 - $50,685 depending on skills and experience.

14% Super to desired industry fund

Information:

*Regular out of hour's work applies for which time off in lieu arrangements apply *Use of a private vehicle *Long service leave at 10 years, automatice pro rata at 7 years

* Unlimited sick leave (up tp 6 months)
