Overview:

Two (2) Union Organiser positions are available.

One Based in Sydney and the other at Bathurst.

Bathurst Organiser

The position requires that the successful applicants must reside within a maximum one hours drive of Bathurst.

Sydney

Applicants must reside within the Sydney metropolitan area.

The positions require the ability to attend to the needs of the membership in all industry sectors covered by the Union, including Local Government and the Clerical and Administration Sector.

jobdescription: You will be required to develop and implement organising plans for work, that includes developing, educating and supporting workplace delegates and activists, increasing levels of membership and activism, including the direct recruitment of new members and assisting the effective operation and projects of delegates committees, identify organising opportunities in the workplace, assist members and delegates in the handling of such issues. Assist members and delegates in the development and negotiation of enterprise/ workplace agreements. Contribute to campaign and operations of the USU. Able to work with members to develop and implement union policy objectives and be able to do some advocacy.

Job Description:

demonstrated ability to analyse and resolve industrial conflict; extensive knowledge of awards and industrial relations legislation impacting on members; demonstrated commitment to the principles of trade unionism; has completed Union Delegates Training course and/or tertiary qualifications in industrial relations or human resource management, ability to negotiate industrial workplace agreements, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, computer literate with intermediate skills in word, excel, and electronic mail systems RTA class C drivers licence.

well developed research skills and administration experience ability to organise, recruit and plan campaigns demonstrated understanding of and ability to deal with equal employment opportunity, discrimination and harassment issues demonstrated ability in preparation of correspondence and reports.

Desired:

This position is located in Bathurst the position requires a flexible approach to working hours to respond to the needs of members, the position operates on 35 hours per week and is subject to a nine (9) day fortnight roster period.

Salary range:

Grade 3 level 1 $1,122.00pw ($58,344/yr) + Super to grade 3 level 5 $1,282.00pw ($66,664/yr) + Super.

Interview for Metro Organiser Thursday 30 October.

Interview Central West Organiser (Bathurst) Monday 3 November .

Interviews will be conducted in our Sydney Offices.
