Overview:

Australian Services Union (Victorian Authorities & Services Branch), 116 Queensberry Street, Carlton South, 3053.

The ASU is a national union. The Victorian Branch covers members in the Local Authorities, Social & Community Services, Energy, IT, Transport, Shipping and Travel industries

The Branch is currently seeking a full-time training officer to fill a 12 months fixed term position.

Job Description:

The training officer role will be required to:

Present the unions Introductory 5 day Occupational Health & Safety Representative Training Course.

This course is authorised by Worksafe and presented to union members and delegates.

Present the unions industrial courses for delegates and members as required.

Courses are conducted in the union offices and at times in workplaces across Victoria.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

The applicant must demonstrate the following skills and experience:
oA well developed and demonstrated commitment to unionism.

oTo present the OH&S course, trainers must hold Worksafe accreditation or be able to obtain such accreditation.
Consideration will be given to Applicants who are not currently authorised by Worksafe but are able to immediately meet all of the eligibility criteria.

oDemonstrated experience in the field of Occupational Health & Safety. This may be gained through direct employment as an Occupational Health & Safety Officer or as an active Occupational Health & Safety union Representative.

oStrong and demonstrated commitment to the rights of workers to occupational health and safety.

oStrong knowledge of both Occupational Health & Safety law and industrial law and processes.

oDemonstrated experience in the delivery of accredited training, including undertaking assessment.

oA Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and experience in course delivery is required.

oAbility to organise busy work flow and conflicting priorities and meet strict deadlines.

oAbility to work on own initiative with limited direction as well as part of a team.

oA current Victorian Drivers Licence.

oComputer literacy.
