Overview:

The Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU) is one of Australias largest and most innovative trade unions.

The CPSU is looking for an administration assistant with an analytical mind and strong organisational skills. The role will primarily be responsible for providing high level organisational support to organisers. The successful candidate will have demonstrated abilities to liaise with people at all levels, experience in supporting a team, and be adept at performing tasks similar to that of a personal assistant role. You will have strong skills in the Microsoft suite of products, in particular Excel. In addition to this, you will have sound typing and data entry skills and have experience in database management.

jobdescription: The primary function of the role is to provide organising support functions to team officials and organisers. Two areas of work are defined under this function. One is the provision of general organising support. The other is more specific in meeting the growth strategy of the union. Working with Organisers, the position will be responsible for data collection, maintenance and utilisation to meet the key areas of:

Our industrial outcomes delivering the unions core claim in bargaining Our outcomes in membership delivering the unions growth target Our outcomes in member activity and involvement building member participation in the collective activity Our outcomes in development of activists and workplace union structures increasing the number, skill and engagement of activists and workplace leaders in CPSU activity

Job Description:

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

Demonstrated experience working with a membership based relational database package Proven ability to quickly gain familiarity with new databases and their capabilities and provide ongoing support to team users and a willingness to learn new processes Experience generating and analysing various statistical reports Ability to anticipate resource and support needs to meet team demands.
Ability to follow-up and co-ordinate team reporting requirements and track the progress of projects Demonstrated experience working to tight deadlines with the ability to manage time effectively and coordinate several tasks, with minimal supervision Demonstrated experience managing events and preparation of office functions and meetings Demonstrated experience performing tasks consistent with that of a personal assistant including but not limited to: receiving and transferring calls; diary management; proof reading; filing; record keeping; report preparation including: minute taking; report writing and collation; letter and submission writing; typing and general assistance with administrative work load as required Excellent written and verbal communication skills Intermediate to advanced PC skills, particularly with Microsoft Word, Excel (Pivot Tables), PowerPoint and Outlook; Rapid & accurate data entry skills; Basic Web development and desktop publishing skills and research skills utilising the internet Ability to demonstrate intuition and judgement, particularly when dealing with sensitive material.

Salary:

Salary Range: $48,238 - $52,299 + 13.25% superannuation
