Overview:

The Sydney Alliance is an independent not-for-profit organisation funded by its member organisations which are religious, community and union organisations across Sydney interested in working together to building a better city.

Through a program of leadership development, training and relationship building, our mission is to provide our community with a voice to express common values and aspirations for a fair and just Sydney.

The Sydney Alliance is seeking a mature, experienced Administration Officer to be part of a small dynamic team. Hours of work are flexible over 4 to 5 days. This job would suit applicants with specific time requirements like carers with school aged children.

Job Description:

Purpose of the position

• Provide organisational and administrative support to a team of mobile staff

• Manage the office while organisers are on the road

• Be the face of the Sydney Alliance as the first point of contact for partner and potential partner organisations

Key responsibilities and tasks

• Organise and manage Sydney Alliance events, actions and calendar

• Liaise with and assist staff out of the office, and leaders from partner and potential partner organisations

• Organise and provide support for meetings between organisational leaders and Sydney Alliance staff

• Manage correspondence, databases, internet site, expenses and invoicing and receipt of income

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

Essential
1. Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision, manage and prioritise work and rise to challenges
2. Experience in creating and organising events and conferences
3. Excellent communication skills, enjoys working with people and is personable and engaging
4. Able to manage multiple diaries, document meetings and proactively provide other team support functions
5. High level time management skills and attention to detail and able to deliver on multiple tasks
6. High level computer skills including advanced word, excel, powerpoint, access skills, able to update website and create and maintain databases
7. Able to anticipate needs of other staff and leaders from partner organisations to help achieve organisational goals.

Desired:

1. Experience in invoicing and managing expenses
2. Current NSW Drivers license
3. Commitment to social justice values
4. Knowledge of community, union and/or religious organisations in Sydney
5. Experience in managing individual and group project work

Salary:

Salary ranges from $50 000 - $58 000 pro rata depending on experience.

Hours of work are 20 hours per week and are flexible over 4 to 5 days.

The office is located in the Sydney CBD.

Information:

Final candidates will be expected to participate in a panel interview. If possible we would also like successful candidate to also attend and a 2 day orientation / training session on 27 and 28 March 2009.

Initial employment will include a 90 day probation period.
