Applicants should understand the principles and culture of a strong organising union.
Duties may include enterprise bargaining and negotiation with employers, dispute handling, campaign support and general research as required.
Excellent research skills are a must.
A basic working knowledge of the Australian Industrial Relations system is desirable. Some experience working in a trade union or a legal/industrial background will be an advantage, but prior experience working as an industrial officer is not essential. Rather, the successful applicant will have a passion for working in the trade union movement and a strong desire to learn.
