Overview:

The Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU) is one of Australias largest and most innovative trade unions.

The CPSU is looking for an administration assistant with an analytical mind and strong organisational skills. The role will primarily be responsible for providing high level organisational support to organisers. The successful candidate will have demonstrated abilities to liaise with people at all levels, experience in supporting a team, and be adept at performing tasks similar to that of a personal assistant role. You will have strong skills in the Microsoft suite of products, in particular Excel. In addition to this, you will have sound typing and data entry skills and have experience in database management.

Job Description:

The primary function of the role is to provide organising support functions to team officials and organisers. Two areas of work are defined under this function. One is the provision of general organising support. The other is more specific in meeting the growth strategy of the union. Working with Organisers, the position will be responsible for data collection, maintenance and utilisation to meet the key areas of:

XOur industrial outcomes V delivering the unions core claim in bargaining XOur outcomes in membership V delivering the unions growth target XOur outcomes in member activity and involvement V building member participation in the collective activity XOur outcomes in development of activists and workplace union structures V increasing the number, skill and engagement of activists and workplace leaders in CPSU activity.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

XDemonstrated experience performing tasks consistent with that of a personal assistant including but not limited to: receiving and transferring calls; diary management; proof reading; filing; record keeping; report preparation including: minute taking; report writing and collation; letter and submission writing; typing and general assistance with administrative work load as required XDemonstrated experience managing events such as board meetings, involving set up conference calls, liaising with staff, setting up catering and preparation of A/V equipment and presentations etc XExperience generating and analysing various statistical reports XExperience working with a membership based relational database package

Key competencies and skill sets
XExcellent written and verbal communication skills XIntermediate to advanced PC skills, particularly with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook XProviding basic I.T support & assistance on a regional level, with the assistance of the National Helpdesk XResearch skills utilising the Internet XData entry skills consistent with the accuracy required by the databases guidelines XAbility to manage time effectively and multi task XAbility to demonstrate intuition and judgement, particularly when dealing with sensitive material XAbility to contribute to a team oriented environment XThe ability and willingness to take ownership of tasks.

Salary:

Salary Range: $38,192 - $46,742 + 13.25% superannuation
