| Job Description: |
Key Competencies Industrial Officer Possession of tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline Ability to use word, excel, power point and other relevant programs Sound understanding of industrial and political environment in Victoria or the ability to acquire such an understanding in a short period of time Sound understanding of industries in which the ASU operates or the ability to acquire such an understanding in a short period of time.

| Essential: |
Working knowledge of:
Workplace Relations Act 1996
Ability to become familiar quickly with the provisions of the Fair Work Bill Victorian LSL Act 1992 Accident Compensation Act 1985 Occupational Health & Safety Act 2004

| Desired: |
Experience in various tribunals (or their equivalent) including:
Australian Industrial Relations Commission Industrial Magistrates Court
Understanding of the rules of evidence and other commission/court protocols Ability to directly brief counsel on behalf of union Ability to research and prepare a case before tribunals or a court Sound interpersonal skills Ability to work as part of team Excellent written and verbal communication skills Capacity to meet deadlines and prioritise work A good work ethic and willingness to assist other officials and members Commitment to the principles of unionism and equity, and a working knowledge of the organising model.
