If you identify with the attributes above, have you considered the challenging role of a Field Organiser with the Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU), one of the most active and innovative trade unions in Australia today?

CPSU is a federal union with representation in every state and territory and has around 60,000 members. The CPSU predominantly covers Commonwealth government departments, statutory authorities, business enterprises and the ACT and NT governments.

The key role of Field Organisers is developing and implementing effective campaigns and strategies to build members collective power and achieve better pay, conditions and a fair go at work. There will be a strong emphasis on recruiting members and developing member activists and workplace leaders.

Job Description:

The primary function of this role is to develop and implement effective campaigns and strategies to build members collective power in the workplace. There is also a strong emphasis on recruiting members and developing member activists and workplace leaders. The position will report to the team Official and Lead Organiser and will be focused on meeting the four key union objectives of:

XWinning improvements in members pay, conditions and working environment through delivering the unions core claim in bargaining and our agenda for change in our industry XDelivering a stronger voice for members by ensuring union membership grows and by building member participation in union activity XGiving members ownership of their union by building effective workplace delegate structures and increasing the number, skill and engagement of activists and workplace leaders in CPSU activity.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

XDemonstrated commitment to trade unionism and social justice XExcellent listening, verbal communication and interpersonal skills V ability to establish rapport, explore issues, encourage critical analysis and gain commitment to action XAbility to lead, motivate, develop and mobilize union members, workplace activists, and volunteers XAbility to analyse issues/problems and develop strategies to deal with them XAbility to deal professionally with diverse groups of people, including members, delegates and union officials XEnthusiasm, energy and creativity to do a challenging job in a difficult environment.

XGood written communication skills V ability to write leaflets, letters or reports and analyse written documents XCurrent drivers license.
