Overview:

Applications are sought for the position of Organiser for RTBU Bus and Tram Division. The position is located at the Unions Redfern Office.

The General position description along with performance indicators are designed to be a resource to enable Officials and staff to perform their duties autonomously within the framework of the Division and the Union Branch. They are an evolving set of descriptors that will be further developed in consultation with Divisional Management and staff.

Job Description:

The RTBU organiser for the Bus and Tram Division has the responsibility for maintaining and building membership levels, Union leverage and representation structures within a defined area.

In implementing the organising model, the organiser will participate in the work team environment, using communication and information systems appropriately to contribute to the strategic growth of the Union and its membership.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

* Holds a current drivers license
* Can demonstrate leadership qualities, reflective of the Union environment.
* A proven ability to captilise on and contribute to change and innovation.
* Can demonstrate strong commitment to excellence and quality in Union services.
* Experience in delivering innovative organising approaches.
* Highly developed communication, political, problem solving and dispute resolution skills.
* Knowledge and understanding of current legislation, policy and direction as it pertains to industrial relations.
* Demonstrated decision making time and management skills.
* Commitment to the underlying principles of social justice, community development and equity.
* Excellent presentation, public speaking and interpersonal skills.
* Plan and Manage own work priorities.

Desired:

*Experience in Workplace Organising
* Ability to prioritise tasks
* Ability to Indentify and develop delegates and activists, arrange their training and support.
* Setup and maintain delegates and activist networks
* Ability to identify training needs of activists and develop skills development strategies
* Co-ordinate and/or conduct Union Delegate Training
* Organise for the recruitment of new members.
Knowledge of all EEO Policies.
