Overview:

The Textile Clothing and Footwear Union of Australia is seeking to appoint an experienced National Trainer. The candidate will be responsible to the National Secretary. We are looking for a motivated candidate to develop and deliver an education campaign across the country. The National Trainer will be delivering education programs to assist workers and union delegates in understanding the new Fair Work Act. An experienced trainer with an excellent understanding of workplace relations laws and their practical application is required.

Job Description:

To undertake a 6 month project to deliver the new Fair Work Act training and information services to TCFUA branches across Australia

To develop, plan and deliver an education campaign to delegates and workers to create awareness on the Fair Work Act

Assist in the promotion of classes, information forums and meetings

Co-ordinate and participate in the development of on-line materials and the translations and interpreting required for delivery to CALD workers

Liaison with officials, organisers and administrative staff across all TCFUA branches

Organise meetings, forums and training courses including booking and preparation of venues

Administer classes (including keeping attendance records, weekly lesson plans, a file of the teaching materials used, an ongoing evaluation of the course, and student progress)

To be responsible for the logistics of delivery across the nominated states and ensure consistency of access in all regions.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

A proven understanding of the Fair Work Act

Experience in the training and development of delegates and workers

Demonstrated commitment to union values

Experience as a teacher of adults from non-English speaking backgrounds

The demonstrated ability to co-ordinate a national roll out of training, information and materials

Ability to motivate and develop workplace delegates, leaders and activists

Ability to present information and facilitate group learning in an interactive manner using adult learning techniques

Sound knowledge of training content including organising techniques

Ability to both work independently and as part of a team

Ability to work changing hours

Capacity to travel to regional centres and interstate.

Desired:

Good knowledge of the federal industrial relations system

Training qualifications (eg Train the Trainer/Organiser as Educator/Certificate IV in Training and Assessment)

Union Organising experience.
