Overview:

Unions are now embarking on an exciting new phase of the campaign for rights at work after the commencement of the Fair Work Act. The ACTU has established a team of analysts to conduct in depth research and analysis and to formulate and implement strategies in support of large, strategic organising campaigns undertaken by affiliates.

Job Description:

We need an experienced and committed trade unionist with a background in research and/or organising and campaigning to join the team. The position is a leadership role in strategic campaigns designed to grow union membership. The successful applicant will work with ACTU staff and affiliates and will report to the ACTU Assistant Secretary.

The balance of duties between the research and organising/campaigning functions will be determined depending on the skills of the successful applicant.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas:

Financial analysis/corporate research in a union context;

Experience as a Lead Organiser/Campaign Director or senior official.

The successful applicant will have a demonstrated commitment to the labour movement, with qualifications in relevant disciplines preferred.

Salary:

An attractive remuneration package will be provided (depending on experience and skills).

This role is Melbourne CBD-based and will require some interstate travel.
