Finance Sector Union (Sydney), Organising & Development Unit

The Finance Sector Union is seeking to employ a Lead Organiser (Education) for its Organising and Development Unit in Sydney. The position is initially for a fixed 6 month contract, principally to implement a training program funded by the Commonwealth Government, however the successful applicant will be involved in a range of education and development work for the union.

The Lead Organiser (Education) will be responsible for:

• Preparation of education materials related to organising and unionism;

• Preparation and delivery of training courses for union members, delegates and staff;

• Assisting with the delivery of the union's Fair Work Education & Information Project, and associated preparation and reporting;

• Leading and participating in training sessions, including field training, briefings and de-briefing sessions associated with on-the-job training for staff, members and delegates;

• Ensuring that internal and external reporting requirements are met.

Potential applicants should note that the successful candidate will be required to work in a flexible way, including some intrastate and interstate travel.

The successful applicants will have:

• Commitment to the principles of trade unionism;
• Experience and high achievement as a union organiser, Lead Organiser or Educator;
• Familiarity with adult education principles and techniques;
• Willingness to travel intrastate and interstate on a regular basis;
• Flexibility and willingness to adapt to different situations and needs;
• Highly competent computer skills and ability to work with new systems with minimal training.

A salary from $67,629 - $74,327 per annum (pro rata) is offered subject to experience and qualifications.
