Overview:

Australia's oldest, largest and most diverse blue collar trade union is seeking applications for a senior position in the Union's National Office.

The AWU represents members in some of the most diverse industries and occupations around Australia.

Many of them live and work in regional and rural Australia in the resource industries, the mines, the smelters, the steel mills, manufacturing plants, public services and the agricultural sector.

Today the AWU represents over 135,000 working men and women and is one of Australia's fastest growing unions with a strong focus on organising and growing the power of working people.

Job Description:

The National Organiser will be responsible for the co-ordination of designated National Industries, the negotiation of National Enterprise Agreements and will assist in the development and implementation of National campaigns.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

• Ability to liaise with internal/external union representatives across a broad range of industries;
• Proven ability to work in a team atmosphere;
• Proven commitment to the aims and beliefs of the Australian union movement;
• Current drivers licence;
• Excellent organisational skills;
• IT skills;
• Understanding of Australia's industrial relations systems and laws;
• Ability to travel within Australia.

• Understanding of strategic planning within a team environment.

Salary:

A comprehensive package will be provided to the successful candidate including a fully maintained vehicle.

The position will be based in the Union's National Office in the Sydney CBD.
