Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Organiser to work in our private sector team. 2010 will be an exciting year with a major national campaign with one of our biggest employer. The ASU is experiencing significant growth and we have a great team of Organisers. We are looking to add to this team with someone who believes in our apporach to organising. Working at the ASU gives you significant freedom to develop and manage your own campaigns and to use and and develop a wide range of skills.

Job Description:

Organise workplaces

- grow and maintain union density

- develop delegates and activists

- build and/or maintain democratic workplace structures

- run EBA campaigns including organising members, managing negotiations and organising action

- manage collective and individual disputes

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

at least 3 years experience as a union organiser
- well developed organising skills
- ability to manage your own work and to work independently
- strategic thinking
- high level inter-personal skills
- good negotiations skills
- understanding of the FWA
- ability to motivate and lead
- drivers licence

Desired:

have run EBA campaigns or participated at a strategic level

Salary:

Starting between $67 700 - $78 228 depending on skills and experience. Excellent further career path for highly skilled and committed organisers.
